The Pathfinder Sailboat Racing App helps sailors take the guesswork out of getting better starts and sailing faster consistently. The app connects to a boat’s existing sailing Instruments and provides performance information in context throughout the race.

Pathfinder turns the data you already own into race-ready decision support, combining boat speed, wind, current, and start-line calculations into a single interface on your iPhone or wrist, built specifically for racing. Connecting to your instruments is straightforward, either using existing WiFi or an NMEA gateway, which we can show you how to set up.

Two subscription plans are offered:

  • The Plus plan includes your boat’s GPS and instrument connectivity and has race screens with wind, current, and layline data
  • The Basic plan uses your iPhone’s GPS

Before the Race

The mobile app includes several screens designed to help you get better starts:

  • Ping the start line accurately using the Set Start Line screens
  • Understand the line bias using the Start screen
  • Know exactly how fast to sail to the start line using the Start screen and Speed-to-Start
  • Get immediate feedback on how you started and how far below the line you were, including over-early notification, with the Start Analysis screen

During the Race

  • NEW: Live Map now includes Course Extension Lines to show Heading, Course Over Ground (COG), and Opposite Tack Course Over Ground (OpCOG)
  • Sail to your target polars using the Speed screen. The app supports both standard and custom polars.
  • Track wind shifts and stay in phase with the Wind screen
  • See changes in the current set and drift (direction and speed) using the Current screen

Pathfinder Sailing on Apple Watch

With the  companion Pathfinder Sailing Apple Watch App, you can access the same real-time Start, Speed, Course, Wind, and Tidal Current information – right on your wrist. The watch app connects directly to the iPhone mobile app via wifi and Bluetooth so you can leave your phone below decks if you prefer.
